Sunday

Hey guys! Well it's the last day of the weekend color challenge. it was a good one, thanks to Linda, hope all of you who joined in had a good time with your challenge cards too! For those of you who don't know Clear Dollar stamps host a color challenge which runs Friday thru Sunday evening every weekend on Papercraft Planet. This is my second one and I can tell you from my experience it can be a challenge and stretch you out of your color comfort zone. I know we all have our favorite go to colors. This weeks colors were Summer Sun, Real Red and Black with white as an optional neutral. On my card my original thought was to do mostly black and white with pop's of color using Parisian looking china as inspiration. You can see that is not what I ended up with at all! I embossed the butterflies in black onto white cardstock and had white panels to go on top out of cuttlebug swiss dot and one in cuttlebug swirl both brayered over the raised embossing in black. After sewing all of my pieces and laying them out I stepped back to look and well, if you can picture it the small heat embossed black butterflies on the white looked a little bit like cowhide! After some thought I decided color would change the look and solve that so I sponged on Summer sun blending into real red at the edges. Worked like magic! No more cowhide! The other panels didn't fit the new look so I chucked those and finished off the card with a bright flower and embossed and colored butterfly.

Card recipe:

stamps:Clear Dollar- beautiful butterflies

cardstock and ink:black, summer sun, real red, white cardstock and versamark, black ep

accessories:hodgepodge hardware,crystal effects
