Popi's Big Red Truck

Hello again! Well it took me longer to get back than I thought, My computer died about a month ago and I've been trying to get this new one set up but seems it's missing an sd slot. I didn't know those were optional but apparently they are so I thought I would show you one I did back in October and didn't get posted but it was saved on a usb stick. I can't load new pics onto my computer until I get a converter. Anyway....I think this is one of my favorite cards. Not just because it's for one of my favorite people but I don't do serious masculine type cards very often and the story behind this one is special. This illustration is by Laurie Wilson and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it to make my Popi a card while his memory is still intact (Alzheimer's). One of his favorite stories to tell is of my brother when he was a little kid asking " can we go for a wide in the big wed wuck Opi? " So this stamp reminded me of that old truck. I don't think he would have been more proud if I had given him the real thing! He carried his card around town and showed it off all week. It was awesome. That's the kind of thing that just melts my heart, ya know?
It's done on watercolor paper in colored pencils(something I wanted to try)with some sponging and distressing, the paper is from a discontinued SU scrapbooking kit.

Oh my oh my Shawne! My husband's family always had old pick-up trucks like this that they would fix up to look new, so this one really grabbed my attention! My husband or his father would go crazy for this!

It looks 3-D and just pops right out at ya! Awesome papers, colors, and I love that cloudy background with that grass....I will have to show hubby tonight when he gets home : )
